Should I cool down my voice after singing?

It is a good habit, though the evidence for it is thinner than for warming up. A vocal cool-down is a few minutes of gentle work at the end of a session, such as descending hums, soft sighs from high to low and straw exercises, which brings the voice back to its speaking level after high or loud singing. Many singers find their speaking voice feels less tired afterwards. If your voice is still hoarse the next day, the session was probably too long or too loud.
