How do I find my vocal range?

Slide your voice down on an "ah" until the note thins out or turns into a croak, and note the lowest one that still sounds like singing; then do the same going up. The span between those two notes is your range today. Measure the comfortable ends rather than the strained ones: a note you can only squeak out once is not part of the range you should practise in. Expect the number to change, because a voice that is practised regularly usually reaches a little further in both directions.

Measure it now — sing your lowest and highest notes, about twenty seconds
